Whitening teeth following 5 simple steps at home

Do you hide your teeth while smiling because they are not white enough? Well, this is a common problem with a lot of people. Having shining white teeth enhances one’s confidence and personality but at the same time, not many make enough effort to keep the teeth in a good health.

But it is not necessary that you need to rush to a dentist to get your teeth’s shine back if they have been discolored owing to several reasons. Teeth become discolored because of a variety of reasons like irregular dental care, smoking, drinking too much tea and coffee, having poor diet, etc. But their glow can be brought back at home itself if you follow these five tips:

Brush your teeth twice: It is a must, especially at night, when you have your last food and go for a long resting period. If you don’t brush in the night, the particles of the food you ate would remain inside your mouth and invite bacteria. If this persists over a period of time, you are certainly inviting disaster for your dental health.

Giving up smoking or drinking too much tea and coffee or eating unhealthy food: The smoke of the cigarette darkens your teeth as do beverages. So, it is always advised to avoid them to ensure you have great teeth. Also, try to drink more plain water after eating of drinking something which leaves stains in your teeth. If the stains in your teeth have already become too stubborn, then get them removed by a dentist once and take care of their health from there on. Cleaning with coconut oil: Drop a teaspoon of coconut oil into your mouth and swish it in between the teeth between five and 15 minutes or you can also put some oil on your toothbrush and brush with it. You can also put some drops of oil on a clean cloth and rub your teeth with it.

Use hydrogen peroxide: Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial agent which cleans your mouth and gum. Rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide mixed with water for about a minute. It removes the bad bacteria and helps in having fresh breath. It also protects against gum diseases. Applying a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda on the teeth also removes more plaque from them. But ensure that the paste is not too concentrated. You should mix enough of hydrogen peroxide so that the baking soda doesn’t stick to your teeth and damage the enamel.

Using apple cider vinegar: This is a natural antibiotic and cleans teeth by removing the stubborn stains on them caused by caffeine and nicotine. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, potassium, probiotics and enzymes that kill bad bacteria and help good bacteria to grow. The acidic properties of apple cider vinegar break down the plaque.
